Gateway met with the store manager, Cory Raffield, about what attracted Sam's to this location and how they stay connected with the community.
- Give us a brief description about what Sam's Sports Grill is, just in case someone out there hasn't come in to eat yet. We are a family-oriented restaurant with a sports concept. There are 55 TVs, so there's always something live on. Our restaurant has a nice clean atmosphere, and a beautiful patio for people to sit on. Hoping people will come by and take advantage of that!
- What about your restaurant sets you apart from other competitors in the area, such as Buffalo Wild Wings, etc.? Everything we do is made fresh here in the store - our dressings, rubs, marinades, etc.
- Sam's Sports Grill is located in Plum Tree Center on Beltline Road. What about this location made you decide to bring your franchise here? Originally this was a Princeton's and a lot of our servers worked or ate at that restaurant. In looking for a restaurant location, we were familiar with the area and wanted to have the same success as Princeton's in this location. We already knew about the great location it had and visibility and traffic it had. It was a no-brainer when this became available.

- What made you decide to lease an existing building over building a new facility? The convenience and timing of this store was a deciding factor. We have future dreams of building stores from scratch, but we also like, and have had success, coming into existing locations and making them our own.
- You are also involved with the community, hosting Spirit Nights for many organizations in the Decatur area. Do you feel being an active community participant has helped your business? Absolutely. Spirit nights are great, because you can get a direct return from your evening while you're there. Our usual is 10% of food sales.
